Monthly Subscription ARK?
So I’ve owned ark for maybe a year or more now, probably more come to think of it since I bought it when I started college, anyways I digress. Today has been my first real day of playing ARK. Why you may ask? Well simply because I don’t like to interact with people (Yes even in games, super solitary I know) and my computer isn’t really able to handle the rigorous requirements of single-player.
So what changed? I shelled out €10 for a monthly server for myself to play single-player! (and maybe I’ll have a guest or two join me at some point? I don’t know). Is it worth it? Well that’s kinda hard to say, traditionally speaking its not uncommon to pay a monthly subscription for a game MMO’s traditionally have been subscription, so its not that mad. Would it surprise you to hear I do the same with Minecraft? ‘But why Bushcrank!’ I hear you cry, well for one simple reason. Mods.
I adore a good mod, and its no secret that there are some truly talented mod creators out there. But once you start piling them on the games tend to start tanking in performance, Minecraft gets really jittery on my system and ARK….well….ARK is poorly optimized to begin with. And I don’t think I could run vanilla ark on a playable level without the aid of a server (The specs of my computer arent actually that bad) which is a shame.
Well that’s my ramblings for today. Let me know if anyone would like to hear anything else about any topic I brought up today 🙂
